I Feel a Lot Safer UPDATE – 2 1/2 years later
UPDATE: It’s now 2 1/2 years later. 2nd surgery went well but I needed the grab bar to safety enter & exit the shower. After all this time I still use the grab bar on a daily basis. Haven”t slipped once yet and the bar has stayed in place quite well, no slippage and haven’t had to adjust it at all. I’m 5’9″, weigh about 210 and I put a lot of stress on the grab bar but no problems. Due to its placement I also use it to get up & down from/to the toilet. One of the singularly best products I’ve ever purchased. If I move in the future, the grab bar stays here but I’ll buy more for every shower/bathtub I have in the house. Can’t recommend highly enough.I’m going in for a second back surgery next week. Last go around I had a lot of trouble getting in and out of the tub/shower; my wife had to help me. I had another Stander product, the Security Pole with Grab Bars and it worked great for helping me get out of my chair & bed. Saw this and decided to give it a try. Works great. I can put full weight on it and it still secure. Did have a little trouble finding the exact centers of studs for mounting and had to use longer screws than were provided but all in all I’m extremely happy and feel much safer. Highly recommend.

We are caring for our mother who had a stroke. We have a small bathroom and it is very difficult to wedge three people in there around the toilet. This device is extremely helpful. Surprisingly easy to assemble and to install for this woman. 16″ studs are required. Pre-drill holes to make your life easier. Wish I could install another one in the upstairs bathroom but there is a window over the toilet.

This is designed to move around and you can change the direction of the handle. It is very strong and gives support when someone needs to hang on to something. If a person has to be cleaned, dressed and /or dealt with, it is perfect for a person that can not stand by themselves very long.

It really does great for my grandmother.I used in a small bathroom, and based on stud location wasn’t able to use the side bar. That sucks, but not their fault, it’s just a small commode room off the master bath. However, even when locked, it has a little wiggle, about 3/4 of an inch either way. She has been fine with it. I just wish it didn’t.Otherwise, great product.

Good idea, weak materials.
I installed this next to my toilet about a year ago and it has been very useful in accommodating my arthritis with the layout of my bathroom. It has been used multiple times a day for the last year with the rotating handles at a 90 degree angle from the wall. However, today the part that rotates seemed to suddenly get very loose. I took it apart and found that the bolt that attaches the horizontal and vertical bars had snapped and the metal around the hole closest to where the horizontal bar attaches had “torn” (see the pictures). I weigh well under the 300 lb weight limit and there was no unusual use or abuse of the item. In summary, the idea behind this is good (perhaps excellent) but the implementation was less than good. It needs thicker metal tubing and a stronger bolt. With the use of a hammer and another bolt I was able to cobble the grab bar back together, but I am not sure how long it will hold together.

I am delighted with my purchase of these grab rails. I already use the floor to ceiling type in my bathroom and wanted wall mounted ones for my entrance door. These are perfect to give me security when entering or leaving through my front door down steps into the porch.
