This helped me to regain my independence!
I recently had unexpected surgery…in fact 3 major surgeries in 3 days! Due to a rare muscle disease I only have use of my left side and am wheelchair bound. Due to the recent surgeries, one of which involved my left arm… I found that I couldn’t get myself in or out of bed and as a result my son had to stay overnight with me for a month while I recovered. I was working with PT and OT here at home to regain my strength and try to get more function back of my left arm! My main goal was to figure out how to regain enough mobility to become fairly independent enough that I wouldn’t need someone here at night. On a whim, I happened to do a search on Amazon for a “leg lifter”… low and behold, I discovered that they really do make these wonderful devices! After looking at several different ones, I decided to take a chance and order this one… I’m so glad that I did! It arrived on a Sunday and my son and I immediately started to brainstorm the best way for me to use it. The incision on the underside of my bicep was still not healed and the upper part had actually broken open, so I couldn’t pull too much with that arm. However, I found that by holding onto the lower handle, (NOT the upper strap) and then gently leaning my upper body back as I was trying to get into bed… gravity did most of the work, instead of my arm. I really didn’t have to lift my right leg that much to get it up onto the bed. I did have to do it in several different stages though. Oh, another tip that might be helpful for some. Position your foot in the stirrup right at the ball of your foot, instead of in the middle of your foot at the arch. It makes it much easier to get your leg up onto the bed! When my PT came 2 days later, I was showing him how I was doing… he suggested using the lowest “handle” to help lift my leg instead of the one right above it, which was the one I was currently using. Following his suggestion, combined with leaning back… I was able to get my leg up onto the bed almost in just one motion. After several days of doing this, it became much easier and smoother to do. Now, I can get my leg onto the bed in just one smooth movement! Thanks to this wonderful device I’ve regained my independence and my son has been able to return to his own home and sleep in his own bed, instead of my uncomfortable couch! LolI highly recommend this leg lifter! Also, just for reference, I’m 5′ 7” tall. Also, even though I’ve just about regained full use of my left arm now… I’m continuing to use the leg lifter because it truly does make it so much easier and saves my energy when I’m getting into/out of bed by myself.I hope this review is helpful if you are trying to decide to purchase this leg lifter…I truly couldn’t be happier with mine, and I think it will be able to give me years of help!

A Must Have for Knee Surgery
Bought this for my mom for knee replacement surgery and I’m really glad she had it. She used it at the hospital during recovery and even when she came home, it helped her a lot. The leg lifter helped her to be able to move her leg and not depend on me to be there for assistance. My mom is elderly and this is well made and very sturdy which I like, super easy to use. Buy before surgery, you will be glad you did. Highly recommend!!

Had trouble lifting leg onto bed. This did the job nicely.
I had never seen a lift like this. I had to imagine how it would work. It seems to work very well. My wife is disabled, with back issues and Sciatica. Since we got this lift, she can get into bed without assistance. That was what we were aiming for. The lift strap is heavy duty and it will likely serve for years. We’re happy.

Excellent Product
Ordered it and got it within two days. Had to have my husband straighten it out but have no idea how to adjust foot strap like it says in directions. I have very short legs but this still works. I let the handle on top dangle and use the handles on the side. Works like a charm.

I can get into my SUV driver side now!
I’ve been having trouble getting into my Rendezvous, driver side. I can’t lift my right leg and have to try to pick it up with my hands! I got this one because it had several places I could hold it, which gave me a better chance of working it. At first I was real careful and used the side grips, and lifted my leg inside the car. Now I just put the foot thing on the ground, grab the device about half way down with my LEFT hand, and it flows very well how I lift it AS I get in. No big procedure, but with the left hand, it is a very natural movement. I was afraid I was not going to be able to drive anymore, because of the trouble of getting in the car, but this is a life saver for me!

Lifesaver after knee replacement
One thing you’ll never understand until you’ve had it done is how painful a knee replacement is and the recovery is arduous. Not only are you dealing with the knee itself, but your leg is swollen beyond belief and it is STIFF. On top of that, the muscles you’re using in your legs to compensate are extremely sore. I needed help getting in and out of my tall bed every single time and it was the most painful and stressful part of learning to move around again just out of surgery. When I found this product and saw what a difference it was going to make in my pain level just getting up and down, I wanted to cry. It’s sturdy, the various handles and the design of the product itself make it so you can customize for exactly what you need it for. Very well made and I would recommend for everyone suffering from knee or leg pain if you need help with mobility.

Prefer thigh lifter
I got this to help after breaking my ankle. When it came I realized it wouldn’t work for me to lift my leg by hooking this on my foot. That would be so painful. I prefer to use a thigh lifter. Seems like a good product that would help people in other situations, though

THIS RIGID LEG STRAP WORKS BEST!
The steel bar inside is rigid yet still flexible & works perfect for lifting &/or swinging leg(s) onto then over into the bed (& my mattress is high profile)! The grip/handles on the side are indispensable. I just had hip surgery & not driving yet, but I bet this works just as good getting in/out of the car. The bottom foot step is substantial & NO struggle getting your foot (or both feet at once!) inside it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

This leg lifter works great. Wish I knowing about this product when I had my knee surgery while I was in the hospital . Lot less pain trying to lift your leg into bed. Both in hospital and at home.. Thank you for a good product.

Worked well post total hip replacement

This works really well. The loop for the foot would fit any foot size. The loop is padded on the bottom so the foot, bare or in a shoe will not slip. The foot loop is also rigid so very easy to insert your foot. The strap is sturdy and stiff because of a metal band inside. It can be folded but I leave mine unfolded so always ready to use. It is light weight but sturdy, the hand grips are comfortable and make it really easy to lift your leg into the car or wherever else you want it. I have ordered others that were cheaper but they were not helpful (flimsy and there was no metal inside the strap). The rigid foot loop is the best difference between this lifter and others I have tried. Totally would recommend this lifter.

Very functional, it does the job adequately, however, it was heavier than I expected. It folds in half for suitcase but adds weightI found I couldn’t adjust foot rest, the metal was too tough
