use for equipment in/out of transit van
This works well for me. the 3 components store in a 7″ x 48″ shelf and only takes 2 minutes to set up. It is a slow winch, but better than straining my back with an awkward 150-200lb piece of cleaning equipment.

If you are disabled don’t buy it.
If you are disabled don’t buy this item. It’s too heavy with 2 of 3 major components. One group weighs about 30 lbs. And it needs to be permanently installed to your hitch, unless you bring metric torque wrenchs to remove and install. Check your state laws regarding bumper extensions. It must be securely attached to qualify. You also must attach to battery directly to power this lift. On modern computerized cars this might be impossible. Some like mine monitor the battery with special connectors. Bypassing these connectors could void warranty or even create computer errors, cause excessive drain, and have you into your dealer for repairs frequently.I will update this review soon

Serves its purpose
Wife is handicapped, drives scooter. We bought a Ram truck to pull 5th wheel. Due to 5th wheel movement across the bed of the truck, we cannot mount any permanent “vertical” post, else the 5th wheel can’t be attached. This seemed to do the trick but the crossbeam barely clears the rear tailgate when open (but it does). Note that I purchased an 18″ hitch extender prior to delivery in case it wouldn’t clear the hitch. So far, haven’t used it. I utilized the truck’s trailer cord outlet and wired a 7 pin plug to the crane wiring. Works perfectly. One Con is the crossbeam being near it’s max length. It tends to allow the vertical post to “lean over a bit”. Movement in the hitch itself contributed to this as well but I purchased two hitch sleeve “shims” (one for the 2 1/2″ sleeve and one for the 2″ hitch bracket. That removed about 1/2 of the “bending” of the crossbar. Probably won’t need the shims if I use the 18″ hitch extender (haven’t figure out which is less work to do each time). Note unless you leave it “set-up”, it does take a bit of strength and work to assemble/disassemble each time (and room in the truck/car to place everything). So far, when driving, I disassemble everything except the hitch bracket. may not do it for real short drives. If I’m not using for awhile I take the hitch bracket off too because it causes my backing camera sensor to alarm when I back up. When towing the 5th wheel we plan on putting the scooter in the garage (Toy hauler). The other con was that Hamar sent to wrong attachment for the “C-arm” used to lift the scooter and did not include any “C-arm” instructions. I figured out that you pretty much have to remove the seat when you lift it and since I have a tonneau cover, I have to lower the front steering post and remove the basket. If I was a younger man, I would probably be better off skipping the crane and simply removing the battery and lifting the scooter into the truck bed – in parts. But I’m not young… As it is, it works for us and the only option for our situation.

Too Heavy
Besides the fact that the device arrived late it is too bulky and heavy to operate.
