The X40 Really Delivered.
I bought the Robooter X40 because it ticked off my boxes for maneuverability, convenience (fold up capability), lightness, and looks. I had done some reading about the product and its designers but hadnât done a deep dive in terms of research. I had no idea what to expect when my husband opened the box and set up initial charging.Overall, Iâve been very pleased with the X40âs performance. I now have the freedom to get out of the house; this aspect of its value is priceless to me after a TBI knocked me down physically and emotionally. I was not even seriously considering a wheelchair until I read about Robooter.In terms of specific features, I admit that I didnât read anything about how to operate the chair, I just âstarted.â Iâm an Apple user so expect intuitive design; the X40 did not disappoint. At the beginning, I wasnât a smooth operator in terms of navigating corners or in tight spaces – no accidents or injuries – just not as graceful as Iâd like. 🙂 It took about 3-4 outings before I learned to work the joystick and speed control with any confidence.The X40 performed very well recently both on the grade of dirt paths along the Delaware River Canal and in the crowds at the Hindu temple in Robbinsville.Itâs a very comfortable chair and reasonably easy to get in and out of. (Getting it in and out of the carâs trunk is a little more awkward but not infeasible for either my sister or my husband.) In terms of improvements, I wish it were easier to read the info panel in daylight. For example, it is almost impossible to see how much charge has expended because of the lack of contrast on the screen. But, the chair is very efficient so even fairly lengthy outings barely used any charge – this is a real surprise and relief. I am not worried about being stranded.Last but not least, weâve been very pleased with the responsiveness of the company – they reached out to us to make sure any concerns or questions were handled and they replied quickly and completely to our inquiries.Itâs a big deal to accept the need for a wheelchair; the X40 has made it easy to take this new path.

Great Product; Amazing Support!
When a family member became disabled, we knew we needed a way for him to get around. The large custom wheelchairs are great but impossible to get into the car. This gives him the ability to get out of the house and be part of our everyday lives. It is sleek, fast, great turning radius, super easy to use. Weâve had zero issues with battery, steering or anything else. The only features that are missing are an ability to raise/lower chair height and ability to tilt back. But the trade off is that the chair is lightweight and mobile and perfect for all our day trips or appointments or errands. Given that the custom chairs (with all the added functions) are many tens of thousands of dollars, this is a great value and performs well above its price point.In addition, the customer service team is amazing! They independently reached out several times: to confirm the chair was delivered, to ask if an alternate joystick would be preferred, to offer a larger battery, and to ensure the larger battery was delivered. They answered all my questions and sent these additional items without charge. Theyâve been absolutely terrific!Highly recommend!

Excellent chair, excellent customer service
This is a really unique chair. While not as small as some other portable power chairs, the omnidirectional wheels still give a really nice turning radius. The seat is comfortable, and the look is sleek. With the weather, I have not used it outside yet, but looking at the wheel design, I think it will be fine. The seat is higher than many chairs, so if you are under 5 ft like me, your feet will not reach the footplate. However, the added height makes it easier to reach some things without having a power seat lift. There are a number of safety features built in such as slowing for turns and reversing, that may take a bit to get used to; however, they are wise given the higher than typical center of gravity. The voice announcing you are backing up can get annoying, but it can easily be turned off. The horn is not your typical beep, but rather sounds like a car horn.The folding and driving via app option is great, because the chair can be easily put out of the way, even stored under a table. The one glitch with this is that because the remote runs on your phone via Bluetooth, once the chair is turned off you cannot turn it back on with your phone to unfold it and bring it back over to you. Someone else has to turn it on manually.And now a note on the customer service. I’ve been a power chair user for 40 years, and never encountered this level of service.( In fact, 2 months ago I ordered another power chair, the Bounceback intelligent power wheelchair, from Amazon which arrived severely damaged, I was misled by the company about a return or replacement, and I’m still trying to get a refund from Amazon two months later even though I filed an initial issue report 2 hours after I received the chair. My review discussing this one month later, was denied on the grounds that it had more to do with delivery and the company then the chair. So since Amazon didn’t want to publish my buyer beware notice, I hope they allow me to post this polar opposite shout out. )This chair arrived on schedule, very well packaged. Before purchase, I had contacted the manufacturer to ask about the difference between two different models, and received a response within 24 hours. Since receiving the chair from Amazon, I received an email asking me to schedule a personal follow-up with the stateside engineering team to discuss my needs and experience, as well as asking me to provide my address so that I can receive a free long distance battery. The initial call I received from the engineering department just said if I had any problems I could call or text anytime, and since I hadn’t, I did not call back. However, they persisted until they were able to reach me at a time I was not on the phone, because they really do want personal feedback from all the customers, this being a new chair on the market. For all those of us who have always gotten chairs from the big manufacturers over the years, where the approach is more impersonal and you take what you can get, this was a real pleasure. I provided the design request of considering how it can be safely restrained in a wheelchair accessible cab or paratransit bus, as many of those services will not transport unless the chair can be tied down. I was also offered the opportunity to receive the accessories of my choice and provide feedback.If you are looking for a lightweight portable chair, suitable for people who may not be ambulatory at all, I highly recommend checking out the Robooter brand. If this model isn’t for you, they do have a few other models not yet available on Amazon.
