    Functional, Awkwardly Heavy
I was employed with a hospice company for 5+ years, and I have encountered many a device meant to assist those who with limited mobility. This electric lifting bed rest is certainly a heavy-duty piece of equipment. The metal bars certainly lend to structural integrity, but unfortunately this piece as a whole is a bit too large and a bit too weighty to fit with very many setups. Positioning this in any comfortable way on a stable bed surface is itself a challenge. It almost feels as if this is meant to accompany a specific bed with compatible hardware. If you’re able to accomplish this however, this is certainly functional. What you lose in lightweight, flexible comfort, you gain in sheer power. The pump system isn’t especially complicated, and the results vary. I can see this working in tandem with a Hoyer lift, if anything, especially if you are dealing with someone bedridden who may need a bit of extra support getting in and out of bed. Beyond this, having a couple people on hand to ensure proper function might be a plus as well. Because the pieces are metal, and rather jagged, a few extra precautions to ensure no pinching or cuts might be of the essence as well.Beyond this, the material of the backrest/pillow itself is certainly one of the best qualities about this. The padding is comfortable (I feel like I myself could sleep easily on it), and the fabric feels made for durability and easy stain clean-up. My biggest consideration if you’re considering getting this is ensuring that you have ample space, and the strength needed to both position and operate this.

    Definitely for lifting
We received the Electric Lifting Backrest without the side bars. It is a surprisingly light device and very easy to place on a bed. Set up is literally situating it and plugging it in. It raises and lowers on an electric hydraulic with a 2-button remote (up/down). The head pillow rest is actually quite comfy and generously sized. The knee bolster is smaller, even smaller than those at massage therapists. We used this on a queen bed and it took up just over half. In addition, our bed had an extra 2 inches with a wedge placed between the bed and the window (pic) and I placed the Lift against the windowsill, using those extra inches. When propped up on this, my feet were like less than a foot from the bottom of the bed, and I am 5’1″. For my husband, who is 5’7″, he also felt uncomfortably towards the bottom. However, we will note, we did not slide so at no point did we go over the edge. There just isn’t a lot of room on a queen so keep that in mind. The lift is super smooth and fairly quiet. It will lay flat but because all of it sits on the bed, you cannot lay flat on this thing because you have like a 5 inch difference between it and the bed. This is really optimized for someone who is to be sitting or intends to lower down then roll to the unoccupied side of the bed. It raises to nearly upright so it is an incredibly nice assist. The extra long fabric provides a bit more cushion and helps with keeping you from sliding. Keep in mind though, this is not like a zero gravity chair so all your weight will be forced on your hips, which can make it uncomfortable. We originally got this because the husband is unable to breathe lying down or even with merely 2 extra pillows until he can get a type of nose surgery. He’s been using a zero gravity chair for months and we thought this might give him the option to at least be in the bed. It didn’t work out that way because the pressure on his hips, especially after coming from a zero gravity chair, was too much after a night. So, keeping in mind this is really optimized for lifting and maybe shorter bouts of usage, this is a great, lightweight solution to raising up someone who may struggle. However, it may not be a good solution for long-term bedrest without some other options for sleeping positions.

    Heavy Duty
This is a serious piece of equipment,. Not easily installed by one person if they are older or not as strong. you’ll want some help setting it up. once setup, it is very nice and allows a wide range of motion in bed.The padding could be a little thicker, a small memory foam pad ontop would be helpful for geriatric patients or people who are going to use this for extended lengths of time. The best part is really how well built it feels. Its super solid. I found that with some beds, a small board could be placed under it to help stabilize it on the mattress.A bonus is that it makes a great floor chair for watching movies with the kids!

    Makes bed better
Have used this for a while now and no issues at all. Very comfortable. It tends to push against the headboard but other then that – works well and makes working from home in bed much more manageable. Recommended

    This is so good!!!
I endured a really bad back injury almost a year ago. And sometimes it flares usp so bad where I can’t even get out of bed without being in excruciating pain. This lift is so good and sturdy and helps me maneuver with minimal pain. My husband was able to assemble this back lift pretty quickly and I was super shocked at how sturdy it seems to be. I am loving this back lift!
