3 years of ownership, still holding strong! Hands down best no-drill grab bar available
This is hands down one of the best no-drill shower/bathtub grab bars available! After three years of ownership, it still have me the confidence that I needed for my grandmother.Over the past several years of taking care of my grandmother, I’ve owned several grab bars. As she passed 100, she was starting to lose mobility, and the suction cup units just weren’t cutting it. They’re essentially useless when they need to bear any weight. After regrouting/recaulking my whole bathroom, I was looking for something that would do the job without any drilling. This unit can essentially hold my entire bodyweight, and solid steel construction means it’s lasted. It’s even distributed local in long island! I’ve been quite happy with it, and the clamp holds it in place VERY securely if you tighten it adequately. I even bought a second unit as the dementia set in and we moved her closer to take full time care of her.The solid steel construction also means it will start to rust on the inside, around the edges where it was formed and welded, and steel pins, after a few years in a high moisture environment, even with a good powder coat. When I bought the second unit, I gooped up the inside and around the pins with the cheap Blaster Corrosion Stop that you can get at home depot, and that seems to do a good job so far.My grandmother died a few months ago at the age of 104, and I felt like taking it apart to get a good look at the rust. The pins had seized in place and I needed to tap them out with a 4LB hammer (familiar, if you work on cars up here in the north), and they looked kinda nasty. The height adjustable top part had also seized in place, and needed a few light taps too. Inside, it looked like an old frame rail, and I’m going to have to flush it all out before reassembling it. The screw mechanism and the pivot point for the clamp had zero rust on them whatsoever. So I’m not sure this thing would last ten years instead of three, but while you have it, it will stillbe the best unit you can get, hands down. It’s definitely worth the money. Now if you’re listening, Drive medical, you might want to either see if you can get them to do this at manufacturing, or do it yourself before sale:Give the inside a little spritz of cavity wax. I’m sure you can find some stuff that has no odor (unlike cosmoline), and lots of retail cavity wax cans come with an applicator straw. Then maybe goop up the pins and some of the edges too. They really don’t need much to slow the rust. If you’re worried about making a mess in shipping, you could also include a little packet of some type of waterproof grease, like they ship ignition wires and coils with. You can do this for like a buck or two total per unit, and they’ll last a decade I bet. You COULD paint/powder coat the inside from the factory, but nobody really bothers with that when it comes to mass market consumer products (or, ya know, expensive stuff like cars and even buildings), and so I bet they won’t do it for you cheaply. I’m guessing it’s an annoying and expensive extra manufacturing step, I bet, but I could be wrong.Consumers: you can do the same pretty easy. After mounting it on your tub and getting it really tight (but not before! You don’t want grease/wax on the mounting surface where it needs friction!), Spray some Blaster Corrosion Stop (or any anti-corrosion spray) on the inside of the rails and on the pins. Get a little bit on the bolts and edges. Don’t get any on the handle or the mating surface either! You don’t want that goop on your hands, and you don’t want to mess with the grip either. Wipe excess from the exterior. It will drip and dribble a little bit for a few days, but then you can forget about it. As long as you don’t directly blast the thing with bleach, strong solvents, or power wash it, this will extend it’s life by many years. Repeat every now and then if it starts to rust.

Inexpensive alternative to installing wall mounted grab bars
I was very close to hiring someone to install new grab bars in my mother’s bathtub shower (she’s over 90). I was checking out some YouTube videos and one popped up with ‘no-drill’ alternatives. I knew about the suction cup style, which weren’t working well given the small tile size in her shower. But I was introduced to this style that clamps on the side of the tub. It actually works better because it allows her to steady herself as she enters the tub, not reach across to grab a bar on the wall. This unit is sturdy, easy to install, and easy to maintain. I do have someone younger check the clamp every week (mom is not strong enough to tighten it). So far it has not loosened in several weeks. A good solution to my need and affordable. Well made, good value for the money.

    Superior Product
The grab bar is solid and easy to install. The bar height is adjustable. Essential when I was recovering from a broken leg. Highly recommended.

  4. Addendum: I ordered these 2 wire baskets, it arrived the other day and one basket was missing, however this evening UPS dropped off another box with the other wire basket inside. So I did receive the 2 baskets but in separate boxes and on different days.

    Tub bar
Bought this for my 92 year old Mother. It’s very sturdy. Fits the tub perfectly. You can turn the knob on the side to widen it and tighten or loosen it. The handle is able to be elevated to different heights and locks into position.

This is great with only one exception…
This is very sturdy and stays in place!Only one thing would make it perfect, since you’re wet in the tub, a non- slip grip is needed at the top handle and the middle handle for the best safety of the person who relies on it.I just bought grip tape for baseball bats, but if the manufacturer wants to make it perfect, that would be stellar

    This grip bar is amazing!
I purchased this several weeks ago, and it’s totally amazing! It was so easy to install, and we haven’t had to tighten it since we first installed it and it’s been several weeks. It’s very sturdy, and if I remember correctly it supports up to 300#’s. The height of the grip bar is perfect, no need to bend to grab it. I’m 5’11”, so if you’re 6’7″ you may need to bend. 🙂 This makes us feel much safer getting in and out of the tub when we shower. Since we only use a clear shower curtain liner, we can also grab the grip bar while in the shower which is very helpful. It’s in the middle of the tub so we can also use it as support when getting up from the toilet. On a scale of 1-10, we would give it a 12.The shower has half inch tiles, so those suction grips wouldn’t work for us, this is much safer than using those for us.

HEAVY DUTY, non slip grip handle
Ok, I’m impressed…not an easy thing to do. I’m a senior woman, now caregiver to my husband with dementia. Showering has become a big deal at my house for him. Not an easy task anymore, and he’s often afraid of getting in or out of the tub. Have only used this bar one day so far, but WOW. Such a perfect spot to have a grabber…the edge of the tub. Makes complete sense and he had no issue using it. The adjustable height is a gamechanger. He’s 6’3″ tall, and the adjustable handle height makes all the difference, he doesn’t have to bend over so much to use it. The rounded handle has black, rubbery material, which allows a wonderful grip without slipping hands. We have an ancient porcelain tub, and this fit it just fine. I was concerned that my old hands wouldn’t be able to tighten it enough to be sturdy, but the super large, easy to grip nut, made it easy for me. They really thought the design of this through. If you’re on the fence about getting this, I’d say to try it, I think you’ll like it.

    Excellent Safety Product
This device is excellent. Right out of the box, we clamped it down on the side of the tub-shower combo in our bathroom. It is super-sturdy, adjustable and makes getting out of the shower (stepping over the tub wall) so much easier and more safe to just have something sturdy to put my right hand on. Highly recommend.

  9. Bailey

Wow. I’m not one to write 5 star reviews raving about a product, I always like to be transparent and honest about the quality of what I order because that’s the whole point of these reviews… don’t tell me it’s amazing and you love it the day you receive the package. Use it for a month, truly test it’s quality, durability, how well made it is and even after you love it tell me the little hiccups so I know what I’m in for before I buy. That being said this was purchased to use in the place I rent, for my boyfriends grandmother who we recently found out has diabetes (found out after a scary ambulance ride and week long stay in the hospital). She struggles to sit and stand up from the toilet and the shower seat without assistance. This has been such a good purchase. It’s thick strong metal with padding to not damage the tub. It’s so simple to set up and hasn’t needed to be tightened yet all these weeks later. The height is adjustable (3 different heights) and it comes with a lifetime warranty which is awesome. Very very happy!

  10. LINDA SHULIST

I was searching for grab bars to install in my tub when I saw this one that simply clamped onto the side of my tub. No worry about screwing through ceramic tile, finding studs etc. So very simple and effective. Was super easy to install and tighten. Height adjustment was easy too. Safe and sturdy, am very pleased.

  11. Kindle Customer barbara
